Life is an interesting series of experiences. As you get older, your desire to help others continues to grow. If you are lucky like I am, you have had the opportunity to help others by teaching them what you know. I have been very fortunate in my lifetime in that I have been approached by many people seeking advice on how to further their careers. Hopefully what I have been able to teach them has not only been helpful, but something that they will pass on to others in the future.
One of the best ways to get involved in helping others is by mentoring them or tutoring them in one specific area of your expertise. I have learned by example as I have been blessed to have great mentors in my life over the years. Some great, some amazing, all were able to make an impact on me and my life. I still look to others to help me to this day. I have recently found myself completely in the dark when it comes to preparing my child for college and the admissions process. While school was something that was available to anyone who wanted to attend in my day. Today school truly is a privelege and something that you must work hard at to achieve your goal(s). I have found a great tutor for my son and trust that she will be able to help my son to learn what the process is all about. One of today's great journeys is figuring out how to get into college...this is certainly no small task. A great time to find a mentor/tutor...or two!
How do you get started? Help someone tomorrow or right now even. There are people looking for help all around. The internet is amazing in that you can find groups of like minded people no matter what it is that you are interested in or have expertise in. So, just get out there and help someone...you will be glad you did.
